Popular grass roots organization StreetPass NYC and local video game charity organization S.O.S. Gamers are excited to announce an exclusive partnership to facilitate upcoming charitable video game events in New York City.

“One of our major goals of StreetPass NYC  is to promote a more active and personable gaming experience to combat portrayal of the stereotypical anti-social gamer image persisting in popular media.” said Jordan White, Founder and Event Organizer of StreetPass NYC. “We feel giving back to the community contributes a large part in challenging such stereotypes and S.O.S. Gamers shares a lot of the same ideals and goals with that in mind.”

The first major event partnership will be a charitable BBQ event in New York sometime by next August which will have a small entry fee to gain funds for an undetermined charity cause. S.O.S Gamers will be providing the venue and food while StreetPass NYC will be providing the entertainment and gaming events.

Future plans include assisting each other with various activities at the upcoming New York Comic Con this October and to fulfill S.O.S. Gamers Initiative, Support Our Students.

S.O.S. Gamers is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization incorporated January 12, 2010 in the state of New York. S.O.S. Gamers exists for the purposes of using interactive electronic entertainment as a means to perform charitable services and support causes that aid society as a whole. Our organization will carry out this mission by harnessing the growing influence of the video game industry, media and culture. It is our objective to organize activities and services that incorporate the exciting, interactive aspects of the electronic video game medium fused with the community building & good-natured qualities that flourish when performing charitable activities.
