From a super crazy launch in New York to the first StreetPass NYC meet up, to the Nintendo 3DS is doomed; FAST FORWARD to past the launch of the Wii U and the launch of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. Can anyone believe that it's been TWO YEARS since our favorite handheld has come out?

To celebrate, we plan on having a mini-meet up inside the Best Buy at Union Square where hosted the official Nintendo 3DS North American launch. We plan on hanging near the demo unit upstairs, allowing us access to Nintendo Zone and a Internet Connection.

Nothing crazy. Just to meet up, StreetPass, play games, share crazy stories about the launch of the unit (our Founder can put Cranky Kong to shame in that department) and reflect on what was a crazy year...and to prepare for our upcoming One Year Anniversary.

Love sucking up ghosts, finding Boos, checking all the furniture and overall scaring our poor green friend in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon for the Nintendo 3DS? We love to play with others online, but we feel that with such a spooky game is better to experience up close and person.

So welcome to ScareScraper Saturday! Every other week (we will skip Saturdays if date/time conflict arises) we will be checking out the most spookiest, haunted places all over New York City.

Our first ScareScraper Saturday (we had to move it from Sunday to not conflict with Easter) will be at the infamous Fire Station that was used in Tribeca for the HQ of the Ghostbusters in the movie of the same name. We will meet up to have a small tournament for the multiplayer. You do not even needs the game, just a fully charged Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo 3DS XL!

Possible prizes will be detailed at a later date. More info coming soon...

Spacewar! was created by a group of students and researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1961, conceived of as a demonstration for the new Digital Equipment Corporation PDP-1 computer. The game premiered at the 1962 Science Open House at MIT, and was later shared and modified at computer labs around the United States. This “computer toy” influenced untold technological advances and gave rise to the cultural phenomenon now known as video games. Among other things, Spacewar! set the template for the game development industry and its relationship to technology, established shooting as a core game mechanic, and inspired space and science fiction themes for future games.

This exhibition was organized by guest curator John Sharp.

StreetPass NYC Google+ Hangout On Air! -- Fire Emblem Awakening

We at StreetPass NYC wanted to do an experiment, a virtual group meeting that would be broadcasted live an saved onto YouTube via Google+ Hangout LIVE on Air. We wanted to show people what our meetings are like in New York City for those who have never attended it, talk about latest games (in this case the recently released Fire Emblem Awakening) and have tons of fun doing so in the process. Give a little taste of what being in StreetPass NYC is all about.

We end up recording on Wednesday, February 6th as a test and we feel that our test was a smashing success. Special thanks of Sean from Nintendo World store coming out to talking about our most famous Nintendo hot spot!

Expect more of these types of LIVE Hangouts in the future and also look forward too a new Podcast similar to this format called The StreetCast coming out in April/May 2013.
