Tetris is an icon of handheld gaming for Nintendo when it launched on the Game Boy back in August 1989 selling over 35 million copies worldwide!

Now we celebrate the newest edition of Alexey Pajitnov's game, Tetris Axis, on Nintendo's newest handheld the Nintendo 3DS at the Nintendo World Store!

There will be Tournament for both Tetris Axis and Tetris DS. To enter in the Tetirs Axis Tournament you need only to have a Nintendo 3DS for Download Play. Likewise, to enter in the Tetris DS Tournament you must have a Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo DS/DSi/XL for Download Play.

Sign ups happen at Noon, TOURNAMENT BEGINS AT 2:00 PM SHARP! NO LATE SIGN UPS!

MAXIMUM 40 people for Tetris Axis
MAXIMUM 20 people for Tetris DS

And elimination round where all contestant are broken up into groups and play max amount of players all at the same time. Then the final round will take place and winners will be declared. This will happen for both games.

Come to the store as we will be challenging each other in a StarFox 64 3D and StarFox Command Tournament!

The winner for either the StarFox 64 Tournament and/or the StarFox Command Tournament will receive a one of a kind hand sewn "Smart Bomb" Throw Pillow. (Pictures of said prize will be posted shortly.)

Today is "Stop The Swarm!" -- Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D Contest!

StreetPass NYC presents "Stop the Swarm!" This special event, which is part of a worldwide "Stop the Swarm!" series, challenges you to stop a swarm of Resident Evil monsters that are on the move. It's up to you and your fellow Nintendo 3DS owners to keep your city safe!

During the event, participants will attempt to get an "S" or "SS" ranking in any single mission. Anyone who does so at least once during the event will have helped "Stop the Swarm!" and will also have their name and rankings listed on StreetPass NYC, StreetPass Network and maybe even other gaming blogs like the Capcom Unity Blog!

Those who make "S" or "SS" ranking will be paired into Duos and group contestants will compete in a Level 4 or above Mission (chosen on the day) and try to get the highest score.

The Duo with the highest score will earn a small money prize/gift card that will be revealed at the event!
The Top Three Duos will also have their name and rankings listed on StreetPass NYC, StreetPass Network and maybe even other gaming blogs like the Capcom Unity Blog!

We will also have a Resident Evil Cosplay contest with a separate cash/gift card prize at the event! Try to dress either as a Resident Evil character or your most gruesome monster!

Finally, (as of now only limited to the contestants of the events) we will have Face Painter(s) to turn our members into zombies! At around 5:50pm we will march down to Duffy Square in Times Square (where the red steps are) for our Group Photo!

If you don't have a copy of Resident Evil: Mercenaries and want to participate, you might be able to borrow a copy of the game from another person.

We can't promise that extra copies will be available, though, so the best way to participate is by bringing your own copy of the game.

NOTE: If you're uninterested in "Stop the Swarm!" or too young to play Resident Evil: Mercenaries, you're welcome to treat this event as a regular StreetPass NYC meetup ala Giant AR Cards and StreetPassing!

Come down one and all to chill out on the beaches of Coney Island.

Bring your Nintendo 3DS as we play fun 3DS games as well as beachfront games like Beach Volleyball and Frisbee (practice in Wii Sports Resort!)

We also plan on having a fun group Sandcastle competition!

As the day turns to night, 6-7pm, we will duck into "Game World" arcade to play video games! We will also hang around and explore, maybe venture to Luna Park or the bumper cars?

So bring your Nintendo 3DS, bathing suit and LOTS of Sunscreen (we're gamers, we don't do well in the sun) and lets all have fun!
