LEGIONS OF NINTENDO 3DS FANS BRAVE NEW YORK’S WORST RAIN STORM TO MAKE STREETPASS NYC A RESOUNDING SUCCESS!

Over Twenty Fans Show At Union Square, Filmed By Nintendo of America!

Despite a “Severe Weather Alert” by meteorologist, torrential downpour of rain, freezing cold temperatures, and 40 miles of wind to what AP News called “a brutal storm”, die-hard Nintendo 3DS fans braved all this to meet up face to face, chat, take 3D photos and have a good time.

A total of 33 people showed up to this event despite the wrenched storm. A mob of attendees had umbrellas in hand while playing the new Super Street Fighter 4 verses matches and as a total surprise, Nintendo Week (a weekly news show filmed by Nintendo of America and broadcasted to Wii’s across the nation) showed up to interview guests and film all the bustling action.

“This has surpassed all my wildest dreams”, said Jordan White, the organizer and founder of StreetPass NYC said with eyes full of bewilderment. “When I started this meeting I thought that only one dedicated gamer and a hobo would show due to the rain, but this many people and the media attention…blows my mind!”

StreetPass NYC is a subset of the much larger, global-wide grassroots StreetPass network of meetings popping up all over the globe from America to Japan and South Africa. Their goal is for fans of the Nintendo 3DS system to interact face to face in a non-discriminatory public venue and to promote a more active and personable gaming experience to combat portrayal of the stereotypical anti-social gamer image persisting in popular media.

Their next meeting will be a Rain Date to make up for those who could not make the weather, in Penn Station (between the LIRR Waiting Area and the McDonalds) from 3:00pm -- 6:00pm. The meeting after will be in May, current location is being voted on but will be located in Brooklyn and follow the StreetPass standards of being open, safe, kid-friendly, interactive and fun!
