STREETPASS NYC RAISES $280 FOR AIDS WALK NEW YORK!
StreetPass NYC Bucks Video Gamer Stereotypes, Raises $280 For AIDS Walk New York!
Popular grassroots video game organization, StreetPass NYC, joined 45,000 walkers on May 15th, 2011 at Central Park in New York City to contribute to AIDS/HIV Research and Prevention. A total of six people defied yet another rainy day to profess their support for the cause and manage to raise $280 in only a week.
“We are very proud of what we accomplished and we plan on doing this again next year”, stated Jordan White, Founder and Event Organizer of StreetPass NYC. “This is going to be just the start of something big for us in the future, as there are more causes we can impact in bigger way in our community. We also like to thank Matthew Flores, Carlos Hernandez, Darnell Jefferson, Steven Korvin, Kavon Morillo, Michael Ortiz, Peter Ortiz, Angel Ramirez, Mark Rodriguez, Sergio Shand, Satoru Solveitsk, Andrew Turcich, Rob Oehlberg and Lori Douglas for their donations!”
Jordan White also ran an experiment during the walk using the Nintendo 3DS Activity Log application which uses the built-in pedometer to track how many steps one takes. The total amount of steps for the walk estimated to be 13, 800 steps, the peak step was 4,000 steps.
